Alex Huerta-Sanchez, a Mexican national residing illegally in the United States, faces serious charges of attempted enticement of a minor, according to an announcement by Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. The 31-year-old was detained in Faribault, Minnesota.
Court documents indicate that on March 14, 2025, Huerta-Sanchez attempted to involve a minor, under the age of 18, in sexually explicit activities. At the time of the alleged offense, Huerta-Sanchez was unlawfully present in the country.
The indictment includes one count of enticement of a minor. Huerta-Sanchez made his initial court appearance in the U.S. District Court before Magistrate Judge John F. Docherty. The judge has ordered that Huerta-Sanchez remain in custody as further legal proceedings unfold.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of sexual predators—particularly those who would prey on minors,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. She expressed gratitude to the Bloomington Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and other law enforcement officers who employ undercover operations to identify and apprehend individuals seeking to exploit minors.
The case is the result of efforts by the Bloomington Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew D. Evans.
The legal proceedings underscore that a complaint is only an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
