Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning expressed support for President Trump's recent Executive Order. The order mandates the Secretary of Defense to devise a strategy for reforming the defense acquisition system and to review Major Defense Acquisition Programs.
"Amid a threat environment that demands we move fast and increase capacity, the Aerospace Industries Association welcomes the Trump Administration’s commitment to revitalizing the Pentagon’s acquisition process," said Fanning. "Our members manufacture mission-critical systems and transformational capabilities that are an effective deterrent against our adversaries, and we should take every step we can to get them into the hands of the warfighter faster."
Fanning highlighted the mutual goal of the administration and the aerospace and defense industry to ensure that taxpayer dollars devoted to defense equipment are used efficiently. "As these reviews progress, we look forward to working with the administration to make much-needed improvements that will optimize the system for all stakeholders, and we urge them to avoid overly lengthy reviews that could delay equipping our troops," he stated.
