Senate introduces REPAIR Act for auto industry standards equality

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), representing small business interests, has voiced approval for the introduction of the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act in the U.S. Senate. This proposal, known as S. 1379, aims to provide independent auto repair shops access to tools, software, and manuals currently available only to manufacturers and authorized service centers. Senators Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) have introduced this bipartisan legislation.

"NFIB applauds Senators Luján and Hawley for leading the Senate in introducing this important bipartisan bill," said Andrea McGee, NFIB Principal of Federal Government Relations. "The REPAIR Act is a much-needed piece of legislation to maintain competition in the automotive industry. Almost 90% of NFIB members voted in support of ‘Right to Repair’ when balloted, making it one of NFIB’s top ten priorities."

Previously, NFIB expressed its support for similar legislation in the U.S. House, H.R. 1566, introduced by Rep. Neal Dunn (FL-2) in March.

NFIB, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, has been advocating for small and independent business owners for more than 80 years. It continues its mission of supporting these businesses across the United States. More details about NFIB's work can be found on their website, nfib.com.
