Daniel P. Bubar Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina

A man from Roanoke Rapids has been sentenced to a decade in prison for offenses involving narcotics and firearm possession. Danny Steven Bryant, Jr., 33, confessed to a total of thirteen charges on November 4, 2024. These charges include nine related to drugs and four associated with possessing a firearm as a felon.

The investigation into Bryant's activities began in June 2021 when the Nash County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) started looking into his involvement in selling narcotics and firearms within Nash County, North Carolina. Evidence presented in court revealed that multiple controlled transactions were conducted by investigators from June through November 2021, involving methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and several firearms. Among the firearms were a .223 AR-15 with high-capacity magazines, a .22 caliber revolver, and two .38 caliber revolvers.

With previous convictions for unlawful wounding and felon in possession of a firearm, Bryant's case was handled by several law enforcement agencies. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Roanoke Rapids Police Department, and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office were instrumental in the investigation.

Daniel P. Bubar, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, publicized the sentence, delivered by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Julie A. Childress and Katherine S. Englander took on the prosecution duties.
