Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced the sentencing of David Eddy, 59, of Manchester, New Hampshire. U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden sentenced Eddy in New Haven to 210 months of imprisonment, followed by a supervised release period of 10 years, for child exploitation offenses involving the sexual abuse of a young girl.

Court documents reveal that in September 2022, Eddy sexually abused a minor girl, approximately five years old, and took photographs of the abuse using his cell phone. An analysis of Eddy's phone uncovered over 150 child sexual abuse images and videos, involving the minor victim and other children.

Eddy was arrested on October 5, 2022, on related state charges. On September 25, 2024, he pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He has remained detained since his arrest, while the state charges are still pending.

The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Simsbury Police Department, with assistance from the Manchester Police Department. The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Anastasia E. King and Nancy V. Gifford.

This prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which aims to combat child sexual abuse and exploitation. More information about the initiative can be found at www.justice.gov/psc. Reports of child exploitation can be made at www.cybertipline.com.
