Mexican national sentenced for trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin

Isaac Abraham Sandoval Lopez, a 36-year-old individual from Sinaloa, Mexico, has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Kirk E. Sherriff, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith. Sandoval Lopez was found guilty of possessing methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin with the intent to distribute.

The case stemmed from a traffic stop on June 26, 2024, when Sandoval Lopez was pulled over for a traffic infraction on Interstate 5 in Fresno County. Authorities discovered multiple bags, suitcases, and backpacks in his vehicle containing various narcotics, leading to the seizure of approximately 230 pounds of methamphetamine, 5 pounds of fentanyl, and 2 pounds of heroin.

The investigation was conducted by the California Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cody S. Chapple was responsible for prosecuting the case.
