A Canadian man from Saskatchewan received a 14-year federal prison sentence on March 6, 2025, for transporting a minor across borders with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. Quentin Joel Nighttraveller, aged 45 and a commercial truck driver, was involved in this case.
Court documents reveal that Nighttraveller drove his 14-year-old daughter from Canada into the United States. During a stop in Rogers, Minnesota, for truck repairs, he sexually assaulted her. The journey continued, and in Avoca, Iowa, the victim escaped the truck at a gas station to seek help. Nighttraveller then drove away.
Following his prison term, Nighttraveller will undergo five years of supervised release, as there is no parole in the federal system. This case was announced by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa.
The investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office. It was part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative started in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to tackle child sexual exploitation and abuse. This program, led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, works to apprehend individuals who exploit children and to aid the victims.
