Arlington, Va. – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) welcomed an executive order by President Trump regarding changes to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). This regulation controls the purchasing procedures for the Department of Defense, the General Services Administration, and NASA.

AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning expressed support for the initiative. “The Aerospace Industries Association has long called for changes to be made to the process by which the Department of Defense acquires and fields equipment and technology — to accelerate the system, to reduce costs, and to strengthen the entire defense industrial base,” he stated.

Fanning further commented on the administration's efforts, saying, “Bold moves to overhaul the entire federal acquisition regulation, or FAR, show that this administration is serious about eliminating bureaucracy and unnecessary regulations. AIA applauds this initiative and looks forward to partnering with the administration to identify ways to streamline and simplify the process.”

This executive order reflects an effort to modernize a regulatory framework that has been considered by some to be outdated and overly complex.
