Secretary Doug Burgum paid a visit to White Sands National Park in New Mexico today. The park, known for its vast gypsum dunefield, is noted as one of the most remarkable landscapes in the United States. During his visit, Secretary Burgum explored the park’s paleontological contributions, observing a collection of fossils, including rare prehistoric tracks made by humans and animals.
Secretary Burgum also conferred with National Park staff, discussing the ongoing efforts to document and preserve these ancient relics. This visit occurs just before the commencement of National Park Week, beginning on Saturday, April 19. On this day, entrance fees to all national parks will be waived to encourage public exploration and appreciation of these sites.
