A Dominican national from Methuen has admitted guilt in Boston federal court to reentering the United States unlawfully after being deported. Florencio Antonio Nuñez Guerrero, aged 39, acknowledged his actions related to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs has set the sentencing date for July 8, 2025. Nuñez Guerrero faced indictment from a federal grand jury earlier in March 2025.
Nuñez Guerrero's deportation from the United States occurred on March 3, 2017, following a federal sentence for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin. The indictment stated that he reentered the United States without authorization after his removal in March 2017.
The penalty for unlawful reentry of a deported alien can include up to 20 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Post-sentence, the defendant may face deportation. Sentencing decisions are made by a federal district court judge according to the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and existing legal statutes.
The announcement came from United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sandra Gonzalez Sanchez from the Major Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution on behalf of the government.
