U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Hartford apprehended Carlos Antonio Zepeda-Ruiz, a Guatemalan national, who is unlawfully residing in the United States. Zepeda-Ruiz faces charges of three counts of risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct. His arrest took place on February 27, as confirmed by ICE Boston.

According to Patricia H. Hyde, the acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, "Carlos Antonio Zepeda-Ruiz apparently endangered the safety of a Connecticut child and presents a threat to the residents of Connecticut." Hyde stated that ICE Boston will continue efforts to prioritize community safety by focusing on arresting and removing illegal alien threats from New England.

Zepeda-Ruiz initially applied for entry into the U.S. on July 14, 2023, at the San Ysidro West Port of Entry. He used the "CBP One" immigration processing application provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Upon application, he received a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge and was paroled into the United States.

The Bridgeport Police Department previously arrested Zepeda-Ruiz on July 23, 2024, with the same charges, including risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct.

ICE Boston encourages the public to report crimes and any suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or using the online tip form.
