Guatemalan man indicted for illegal re-entry into the United States

Frailyn Argueta-Jeronimo, a 25-year-old native of Guatemala, has been indicted for re-entering the United States illegally after deportation, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson. The indictment was issued on April 11, 2025, following Argueta-Jeronimo's discovery in the country on March 27, 2025, without authorization from the Attorney General, after a prior deportation on February 6, 2020.

Argueta-Jeronimo could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to one year of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100 for re-entry of a removed alien.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson clarified that the indictment serves merely as a charge and the defendant's guilt must be established beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America. This initiative mobilizes the Department of Justice's resources to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime. It integrates efforts from the Department's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Border Patrol, with Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice, Jr. overseeing the prosecution.
