Dylan Thomas Walker, a resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 355 months in prison for crimes committed in McCurtain County within the Choctaw Nation Reservation. Walker, 29, faced 235 months for Second Degree Murder in Indian Country and an additional 120 months for Use, Carry, Brandish, and Discharge of Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
The charges followed a joint investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
According to court records, Walker pleaded guilty on October 31, 2023. The incident occurred on the evening of December 3, 2022, when he approached a residence in Broken Bow armed with a gun. After failing to enter, he shot an occupant who opened the door, resulting in fatal injuries. The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds to the chest and arm and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The hearing took place in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over by U.S. District Judge John F. Heil, III. Walker remains under the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transferred to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility. His sentence cannot be paroled.
