America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released a statement from Bob Unanue, Chair of AFPI’s Hispanic Leadership Coalition, and Chad Wolf, Executive Vice President and Chair of the Center for Homeland Security and Immigration. The statement criticizes Senator Chris Van Hollen and other politicians for advocating the release of an MS-13 gang member in El Salvador while remaining silent on issues at the U.S. southern border.
"It is both hypocritical and morally bankrupt to watch Senator Chris Van Hollen and other leftist politicians clamor for the release of a MS-13 gang member and illegal alien in El Salvador, while they stayed silent during the humanitarian crisis unleashed by the Biden-Harris administration’s open-border agenda," said Unanue and Wolf. They questioned where these politicians' outrage was when American families were affected by fentanyl crossing the border or when children were trafficked by cartels.
The statement emphasized that President Nayib Bukele has "the sovereign right to restore order in his country—just as America has the duty to protect its citizens." AFPI expressed support for communities harmed by what they described as lawlessness enabled by progressive policies. "We will not remain silent while politicians manipulate justice for press headlines," they said.
Unanue and Wolf concluded with a call for leadership that prioritizes truth, courage, and commitment to putting America first: "The American people deserve better than political theater—they deserve leadership rooted in truth, courage, and a commitment to putting America First."
