U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Paso Del Norte international crossing in El Paso have apprehended a man sought on an outstanding warrant for online solicitation of minor charges. This individual was highlighted as the Amarillo Crime Stoppers fugitive of the week.

"The CBP inspection process routinely identifies people who are fleeing law enforcement," according to Ray Provencio, CBP El Paso Port Director. "Every time CBP stops and apprehends a wanted subject means our shared communities are a safer place."

The arrest occurred shortly after midnight on April 21 when a 27-year-old male U.S. citizen approached as a pedestrian from Mexico. CBP officers at the primary inspection discovered a National Crime Information Center alert indicating the man's wanted status in Amarillo, Texas.

After taking him into custody, CBP officers confirmed the warrant details and handed him over to the El Paso Police Department for further criminal proceedings.

This was not the only arrest made by CBP officers over the weekend at the El Paso ports. Officers also made five more arrests of individuals wanted for various charges including assault and smuggling.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stands as America's largest law enforcement organization, tasked with protecting the nation on land, air, and sea. With over 65,000 personnel, CBP is responsible for maintaining safe and lawful travel and trade while safeguarding U.S. economic interests. The agency emphasizes national security through innovation, intelligence, collaboration, and trust.
