A Guatemalan national, Francisco Hector Tecum-Xec, 32, has been sentenced following an arrest during a traffic stop in Mobile, Alabama. The U.S. Border Patrol, together with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, discovered that Tecum-Xec had reentered the United States despite being previously removed in 2017. He received a time-served sentence and a one-year term of supervised release. Upon completion of his sentence, he will be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative involving the U.S. Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security to address immigration violations and combat illegal activities such as cartel operations and violent crime. Acting Chief Adam Calderon of the Border Patrol New Orleans Sector stated, “Border Patrol agents work relentlessly with our law enforcement partners every day to protect our local communities and fulfill our border security mission. If you break our nation’s immigration laws, we will find you and you will be removed from the country.”
The New Orleans Border Patrol Sector oversees a large region, covering seven states and approximately 362,310 square miles. Sector offices are located in New Orleans and other cities, including Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Gulfport, and Mobile.
