May Flower International Inc., a company based in Maspeth, NY, has initiated a recall of its 8.82-ounce/250g packages of "Beijing Soybean Paste." The recall is due to the potential presence of undeclared wheat, which poses a risk of serious allergic reactions to individuals with wheat allergies.
The affected products were distributed across the United States in retail outlets. These packages bear the UPC 6917799000385 and the label mentions that the product was packed for Fu Xiang Yuan Trading Inc in New York City, NY 11378. Distribution occurred from March 25, 2023, to March 5, 2024, under the aegis of May Flower International Inc.
The recall was initiated when a routine inspection by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed that while the product lists flour as an ingredient, it fails to declare wheat, a known allergen.
To date, there have been no reports of illnesses or allergic reactions linked to the consumption of the recalled product. Consumers who have purchased the product are encouraged to return it to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. For further inquiries, customers can contact May Flower International Inc. at 1-718-366-8668, available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
