ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Harvest NYC Inc, based in Brooklyn, New York, is recalling its 200g packages of Enoki Mushrooms due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This organism can lead to severe and sometimes fatal infections in vulnerable groups such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. For healthy individuals, exposure may result in short-term symptoms like high fever, headache, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are particularly at risk, with the potential for miscarriages or stillbirths.

These Enoki Mushrooms, identified by UPC Barcode 6975730520101, were distributed across retail stores nationwide. They are packaged in green plastic bags distributed by Hofood99 Inc., located in Oakland Gardens, NY.

At present, there have been no reported illnesses connected to this recall. The issue was identified following the testing of samples collected by the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Laboratory, which confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Consumers who purchased the Enoki Mushrooms from January 11 to January 31, 2025, are advised to destroy the products or return them to their purchase location for a refund. For further inquiries, consumers can reach Harvest NYC Inc at (718) 596-0777.
