Chairman Moolenaar hopes for religious freedom in China during Easter

As Easter is celebrated in the United States and around the world, Chairman Moolenaar issued a statement reflecting on the religious significance of the holiday and the challenges faced by Christians in China.

"This Easter, I join millions of people around the world in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. I will always be thankful for Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross and for the right I have as an American to worship and celebrate his victory over the grave," Moolenaar stated.

He highlighted the restrictions on religious freedom experienced by Christians in China: "Today, Christians in China cannot do the same, yet they courageously carry the light of Jesus even as they are surrounded by the darkness of oppression from the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP persecutes Christians, puts them on trial, jails them without cause, and forces them to worship in secret."

Moolenaar mentioned historical parallels, noting, "This persecution was also experienced by Jesus’s first disciples, and the CCP is one of many corrupt regimes that have tried to silence the Good News of Christ’s resurrection."

He concluded his statement with a hopeful outlook: "It is my prayer that one day people in China will enjoy freedom of religion, and I have faith that America’s freedoms and founding principles will prevail in our nation’s competition against the CCP."
