Reagan T. Fondren Acting United States Attorney for the Western District Of Tennessee | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee
A former correctional officer from the Memphis Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Bryan Miller, has been sentenced to federal prison on bribery charges. Joseph C. Murphy, Jr., Interim United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, confirmed the judge's decision on this case.
Court documents revealed that starting in December 2022, Miller was involved in smuggling contraband into the FCI Memphis. Over a span of four months, he received $19,500 for his illicit actions.
Miller admitted guilt in January 2024 to charges that as a public official, he accepted bribes for smuggling contraband, including narcotics, into the facility. This breached 18 U.S.C. § 201(b)(C). On April 10, 2025, United States District Judge Mark S. Norris sentenced him to 12 months and one day of federal imprisonment, to be succeeded by two years of supervised release. It is important to note that federal imprisonment does not allow for parole.
The case was managed by Deputy Criminal Chief Michelle Kimbril-Parks and investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
