Today, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott K. H. Bessent held a meeting with Mexico's Secretary of Finance and Public Credit Edgar Amador Zamora. During their dialogue, Secretary Bessent emphasized the importance of advancing reforms to cut off financial resources to cartels. He highlighted the United States’ readiness to assist Mexico in creating an investment screening system with a focus on national security.
Secretary Bessent said, "The Secretary urged the Minister to maintain positive momentum on implementation of important reforms to disrupt financing to cartels and reiterated the United States' willingness to support Mexico’s development of a national-security focused investment screening mechanism."
The meeting was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation on financial security and regulatory measures.
