Elkins man sentenced to 46 months for meth distribution

Burlin Junior Howell, a 60-year-old resident of Elkins, West Virginia, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Following his prison term, Howell will be subject to three years of supervised release.

Court records reveal that Howell engaged in methamphetamine sales in Randolph County. His criminal history includes convictions for grand larceny, robbery, domestic battery, brandishing, and drug trafficking.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner. The investigation was carried out by the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, a cooperative effort funded by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program. Participants in the task force include the Drug Enforcement Administration, West Virginia State Police, and sheriff's offices from Mineral, Hampshire, Hardy, Grant counties, along with the Keyser Police Department.

The case was overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh.
