The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division is seeking input from employers and stakeholders in the Southeast Texas building and heavy construction sectors to help set accurate prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits. This initiative focuses on workers involved in federally funded and assisted projects.
The division has initiated an online survey, targeting wage data from construction projects between May 5, 2024, and August 5, 2025. The relevant regions include multiple counties such as Harris, Montgomery, and Galveston, among others.
Under the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts, the department is tasked with establishing wage rates that accurately reflect the compensation awarded to construction workers in the areas where they work. The data collected will allow the division to publish more accurate wage and fringe benefit rates. An accurate survey response reduces contractors’ needs to request additional labor classifications, providing time savings.
The division has emphasized the importance of submitting online survey responses by August 29, 2025. Notifications will be sent to interested parties and known contractors with instructions on completing the survey. For more information or to request a survey by mail or email, the division’s Davis-Bacon Survey Center can be contacted at (202) 343-2005 or via email at Davisbaconinfo@dol.gov.
The division is also providing two online briefings on May 13 and 15. These sessions will cover the procedures and instructions necessary for completing the surveys, with registration available at no cost.
