The National Farmers Union (NFU) has expressed approval for the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) decision to allow the nationwide sale of E15 gasoline throughout the summer months. The EPA's emergency fuel waiver supports the sale of E15 during the peak driving season, aligning with NFU's longstanding advocacy for year-round access to E15 and the promotion of higher ethanol blends like E30.

"Nationwide E15 is a win for American farmers and consumers. Expanding access to homegrown E15 and higher blends during the summer travel season strengthens America’s biofuels economy, creates new markets for our farmers, and keeps more energy dollars here in our rural communities," stated NFU President Rob Larew. He further added, "Administrator Zeldin’s announcement provides welcome reassurance to family farmers and ranchers facing increased uncertainty in the agricultural economy."

In addition, the NFU has shown support for the bipartisan Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which has been reintroduced in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The union is urging Congress to expedite the passage of this legislation in order to ensure stronger and more reliable biofuels markets throughout the year.

The waiver allowing the continued sale of E15 during this summer will be in effect from May 1, 2025, through May 20, 2025.
