Newark, N.J. - The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey has announced the establishment of a federal task force focused on maintaining the integrity of elections within the district. This new body, designated as the Election Integrity Task Force, will comprise federal prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's Office. These prosecutors will collaborate with law enforcement officers from the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies.
The task force aims to implement policies from the President's Executive Order on elections issued on March 25, 2025. According to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, the Election Integrity Task Force will pursue objectives such as fostering information exchange between federal, state, and local officials. This will assist election officials in effectively removing ineligible individuals from voter lists. Additionally, the task force will prioritize investigating and prosecuting election-related crimes, including voter registration fraud, fraudulent ballot casting, and foreign interference.
U.S. Attorney Habba emphasized the office's commitment to election integrity in New Jersey, stating, "We and our federal partners are committed to ensuring the integrity of elections here in the District of New Jersey and making sure that the administration of all elections is in compliance with federal law." The task force will "take all appropriate steps to achieve that integrity and will vigorously pursue anyone who violates or attempts to violate federal laws designed to safeguard elections."
Concerns or complaints regarding election-related crimes can be directed to the U.S. Attorney’s Office's Hotline at (888) 636-6596, or submitted online at https://tips.fbi.gov/home.
