The American Farm Bureau Federation, along with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, has awarded House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn 'GT' Thompson (R-PA) the Golden Plow award. This recognition is the highest honor given by the organization to current members of Congress. Chairman Thompson has received this award for the second time, having first been honored in 2014.

AFBF President Zippy Duvall said, "From the moment he took office, Chairman Thompson has worked tirelessly on issues impacting farmers, ranchers and rural communities." He further noted that Thompson's continuous support for farm families has earned him the Friend of Farm Bureau award for eight consecutive sessions. Duvall emphasized that Thompson's dedication to rural America is crucial now more than ever.

The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau nominated Thompson due to his efforts in advancing a new farm bill, providing disaster and economic assistance to farmers, supporting the dairy industry, and addressing the agricultural labor crisis. Chris Hoffman, President of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, remarked on Thompson's impact: "It has been an honor to have Congressman Thompson as the Chair of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee... His bipartisan leadership has strengthened support for agriculture across both sides of the aisle."

The Golden Plow award acknowledges members of Congress who demonstrate agricultural leadership and support Farm Bureau policies. Recipients are selected based on their commitment to sound agricultural policies endorsed by Farm Bureau and their advocacy for reduced federal regulation.
