Andrew Clifford Meyer, 36, from Idaho Falls, has been sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. This information was disclosed by Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott.
The incident traces back to August 18, 2023, when law enforcement officers engaged Meyer at the Fort Hall Casino parking lot following reports of a fight. Officers discovered fentanyl pills in plain view inside Meyer’s vehicle. A search of the car yielded approximately 12,000 fentanyl pills and a significant amount of cash. Meyer admitted that the pills originated from Arizona and confessed to selling fentanyl.
On September 19, 2024, Meyer pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Nye has mandated Meyer to follow the prison term with three years of supervised release.
Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott recognized the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Fort Hall Police Department, and the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office in this case. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Haycock.
