New York man admits guilt in $500,000 interstate stolen money scheme

A New York City man has admitted to his involvement in a conspiracy to transport stolen money across state lines, as confirmed by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti. Wander Paulino Pena, 29, submitted his guilty plea to the federal charge before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon.

The court was informed that from April 2022 to June 2023, Pena and others conspired to break into skill game machines in Pennsylvania and Virginia. They stole cash from these machines and transported it back to New York. The conspiracy led to losses estimated to exceed $500,000.

Judge Cathy Bissoon has scheduled Pena's sentencing for September 4, 2025. The maximum legal penalty for his offense includes a five-year prison term and a $250,000 fine, although the final sentence will consider factors such as the crime's severity and Pena's criminal record.

The prosecution is handled by Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway. The investigation was conducted by the United States Secret Service, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and various police departments in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
