Kelly Woodrow Ross, a resident of Waynesville, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for trafficking methamphetamine. The sentence was announced by Russ Ferguson, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
The case against Ross began in November 2023 when the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office received information about his methamphetamine distribution activities. At that time, Ross was already on federal supervised release due to a previous drug conviction. Confidential human sources helped law enforcement purchase over 5.5 grams of methamphetamine from him. A search of Ross's residence on November 28, 2023, led to the discovery of methamphetamine, digital scales, and drug paraphernalia.
Ross pleaded guilty on September 20, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He remains in federal custody, awaiting transfer to a federal prison.
U.S. Attorney Ferguson expressed gratitude to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in the investigation. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Hess from the Asheville office.
