Parkersburg man sentenced for firearm false statement

A Parkersburg resident received a three-year federal probation sentence for a firearm-related offense. On May 1, 2025, 25-year-old Laikin Williams was sentenced after pleading guilty to making a false statement during the acquisition of a firearm.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on August 5, 2022. Williams purchased a Taurus model PT111 G2A 9mm pistol from a business in Parkersburg. Williams admitted to buying the gun for another person and falsely certifying on the ATF Federal Firearms Transaction Records Form 4473 that he was the actual purchaser.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentence, recognizing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their investigative efforts and the Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force for their assistance.

The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy D. Boggess and D. Keith Randolph, with involvement from former Assistant United States Attorney Troy D. Adams.
