U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer commented on the April 2025 Employment Situation Report, marking just over 100 days into President Trump's term. She highlighted the addition of nearly half a million new jobs, noting an overperformance by 40,000 jobs compared to expectations.
Chavez-DeRemer emphasized the revival of the private sector, attributing it to the administration's economic policies. "The private sector is booming, with expansion continuing in critical sectors previously abandoned by decades of failed policies that sold out American workers," she stated.
Significant job growth was reported in construction, with 11,000 new jobs, while transportation and warehousing saw an increase of 29,000 positions. The Secretary also mentioned regulatory changes aimed at reducing living costs and fostering wage growth.
Highlighting the role of President Trump, Chavez-DeRemer remarked, "With a businessman and master negotiator in the White House, we are finally bringing jobs back to our country." She pointed to nearly $8 trillion in new investment commitments secured by the President, noting their potential to enhance domestic production and prioritize American workers.
Chavez-DeRemer concluded that these actions are contributing to a more robust and self-reliant economy, aiming to ensure prosperity for the U.S. workforce.
