Honduran national pleads guilty to illegal reentry into the U.S

Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Darwin Xavier Gonzalez-Munoz, a 30-year-old Honduran national, pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal reentry of a removed alien on April 30, 2025. This is in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Gonzalez-Munoz was previously deported from the United States around June 24, 2024. Upon sentencing, he could face up to two years in prison, a fine reaching $250,000, up to one year of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations. It also seeks to protect communities from violent crime by utilizing resources from the Department of Justice's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Enforcement Removal Operations conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman from the General Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution.
