The Stimson Center has announced the addition of Dr. Asfandyar Mir as a Senior Fellow in its South Asia program. Dr. Mir is recognized for his expertise in South Asian strategic affairs, U.S. counterterrorism strategy, and geopolitical dynamics. His experience is expected to enhance the program's innovative approaches to addressing complex strategic challenges in the region.
Dr. Mir previously held a senior expert position at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), focusing on South Asia security and U.S. counterterrorism policy. He is affiliated with Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation, where he has served in various fellowship roles from 2017 to 2021. Dr. Mir earned his PhD in political science from the University of Chicago.
