Alante Partlow, a 30-year-old resident of the District, received a 13-year prison sentence for his involvement in a shooting incident that injured a 5-year-old child and an adult in April 2024. The sentencing took place in Superior Court, as announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Partlow entered a guilty plea on October 18, 2024, to two counts of aggravated assault while armed and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. Alongside the prison sentence, Superior Court Judge Robert Okun mandated five years of supervised release.
The government's evidence, which Partlow accepted, detailed that around 11:20 p.m. on April 23, 2024, the adult victim and the child were leaving an apartment building in Fort Totten after an argument between the adult and Partlow. Partlow pursued them outside and fired several shots at the adult victim. The adult attempted to protect the child but suffered multiple gunshot wounds; the child was also injured.
U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith praised those involved in investigating the case from both the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. They also recognized Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Roberts for prosecuting the case.
This law enforcement action aligns with President Donald J. Trump’s Make DC Safe and Beautiful Executive Order aimed at reducing crime through coordinated federal efforts focusing on targeted enforcement, improved policing, and strategic partnerships.
