Hassan Omar Kassim and Alexandra Brooke Wisdom, both 19 and residents of Tucson, Arizona, were apprehended on May 6, 2025. They face charges of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, aiding and abetting, and conspiracy to commit the same offense.
The incident that led to their arrest occurred on April 20, 2025. A Tucson Police Department officer from the Operations Division West Community Response Team was conducting operations near Stone Avenue and Fort Lowell in Tucson. The officer was undercover in an unmarked vehicle when he noticed a dark-colored car speeding southbound. After following the vehicle and relaying its license plate number to other team members, an individual leaned out from the rear passenger window and fired at the officer's car. The suspects continued their engagement by making a U-turn during which more shots were fired. Fortunately, the officer was not harmed.
A marked patrol unit responded but lost sight of the suspects' vehicle after a brief pursuit. Subsequent investigations identified Kassim as one of those involved in the shooting. It was also determined that Wisdom had been present in the car before and after the incident and had driven it away from police before abandoning it.
The National Public Safety Partnership (PSP), established by the U.S. Department of Justice, aims to enhance federal support for state, local, and tribal law enforcement through interagency coordination to improve public safety strategies tailored to local needs.
It is important to note that a criminal complaint does not imply guilt; individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
The investigation was conducted by both the Tucson Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam D. Rossi is prosecuting this case.
