Advantage Health Matters Inc., based in North York, Ontario, Canada, has announced a recall of its 8-ounce packages of "Organic Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds." The recall is due to potential contamination with Salmonella, an organism that can cause severe infections in vulnerable populations such as young children and the elderly. Healthy individuals may experience symptoms like fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In some cases, Salmonella infection can lead to more serious conditions if it enters the bloodstream.
The affected pumpkin seeds were distributed in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia through retail stores and mail orders. The product is packaged in clear plastic bags marked with lot number L250320200 and an expiration date of May 2, 2027.
No illnesses have been reported so far related to this issue. The recall was initiated following a supplier's recall from another country. Advantage Health Matters has suspended production while investigating the source of the contamination.
Consumers who purchased these pumpkin seeds are advised to return them for a full refund. For further inquiries, customers can contact the company via email at info@organictraditions.com.
