Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum concluded a day-long visit to Brooklyn, New York, which began at a natural gas facility and ended with meetings with local families at Floyd Bennett Field. The field was previously used as an illegal migrant encampment under the Biden administration.

During his time at the National Grid Greenpoint Facility, Secretary Burgum toured the site and engaged in discussions with energy executives about the challenges and opportunities within the natural gas industry. Following this, he visited the National Grid Floyd Bennett Field Warehouse site before meeting U.S. Park Police officers from the New York Field Office to discuss regional operations.

Burgum also visited Aviator Sports and Events Center located on Floyd Bennett Field. After touring these sites, he met with several local families who have contributed efforts to keep the facility operational.

The visit underscored the Department of the Interior's recent decision to reverse plans for repurposing Floyd Bennett Field into a migrant encampment. In February, it was announced that a 10-year lease had been signed with Williams Transco to utilize these historically significant structures for strengthening energy infrastructure and serving public interests.
