Sioux City man pleads guilty to meth distribution conspiracy

Alexander Summers, a 29-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The plea was made on May 8, 2025.

During the hearing, Summers confessed to conspiring with others over five months in 2023 to distribute methamphetamine within the Sioux City area. He admitted to distributing more than 400 grams of pure methamphetamine to an individual who was cooperating with law enforcement. Additionally, Summers acknowledged his role in trafficking methamphetamine and assisting another person in exchange for housing.

Sentencing will be determined by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after a presentence report is completed. Summers is currently held by the United States Marshal as he awaits sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years imprisonment and could receive up to life imprisonment, along with a $10 million fine and at least five years of supervised release following any prison term.
