The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has announced the termination of 522 contracts by federal agencies over the past two days. These contracts had a total ceiling value of $285 million, and their cancellation is expected to result in $110 million in savings.

According to DOGE's recent post on X, one of the terminated contracts was a $181,000 agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for a "technical climate advisor for central Africa."

An April 2025 Harvard-Harris Poll indicates that 69% of voters support "undertaking a full-scale effort to find and eliminate fraud and waste in government expenditures," compared to 31% who favor slashing $1 trillion in government spending. The poll also shows that a majority of voters believe the U.S. should work toward balancing its budget, reducing government expenditures, and conducting a comprehensive review of current spending.
