A German national, Georg Ingenbleek, has been extradited from Italy to the United States to face charges related to a mail fraud scheme that allegedly defrauded elderly and vulnerable individuals of over $10 million. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.
Ingenbleek, 58, was indicted in 2020 but remained a fugitive until his arrest in Bolzano, Italy, in 2024. He arrived at Newark International Airport and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Leda Dunn Wettre on May 9, 2025. Ingenbleek pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
The indictment alleges that between 2011 and 2016, Ingenbleek orchestrated direct mail solicitations purporting to be from renowned psychics. These communications falsely claimed recipients were selected due to psychic visions predicting financial windfalls. Contrary to promises of free services, Ingenbleek used Company-1 in Piscataway, New Jersey, for mass production of these solicitations.
Further allegations include Ingenbleek directing Company-2 to issue fraudulent billing notices demanding payment for purported psychic services under threat of legal action if unpaid fees ranging from $20 to $50 were not settled. This campaign reportedly netted over $10 million.
In response to federal investigations beginning in September 2016, Ingenbleek allegedly instructed representatives of both companies involved to destroy evidence related to the scheme.
Each mail fraud charge carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss resulting from the offense.
U.S. Attorney Habba credited several agencies for their roles in the investigation: postal inspectors from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service Philadelphia Division led by Inspector Christopher A. Nielsen; IRS Criminal Investigation agents from Newark Field Office under Special Agent Jenifer Piovesan; HSI New York agents directed by Acting Special Agent Michael Alfonzo; HSI Rome; and the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs for assistance with extradition efforts.
Assistant United States Attorneys Jonathan Fayer and Olta Bejleri are handling prosecution duties for this case within Newark's Economic Crimes Unit.
It is important to note that all charges are accusations at this stage; Ingenbleek is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court proceedings.
Defense counsel representing Georg Ingenbleek is Daniel Rashbaum from Miami, Florida.
