Armed career criminal sentenced to three decades in federal prison

Jonathan D. Ross U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas

Trevion Dickson, a 43-year-old resident of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. The sentence comes after he pleaded guilty to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The announcement was made by Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

The sentence was delivered by United States District Judge Brian S. Miller. Dickson received 30 years for the firearm charge and five years for the drug charge, which will run concurrently.

The case dates back to January 6, 2023, when officers from the White Hall Police Department responded to reports of an immobile vehicle revving its engine on the road. Upon arrival, they found Dickson next to the vehicle. When questioned, he fled on foot but was later apprehended hiding in a shed behind a lawn mower. Officers discovered methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, marijuana, and alprazolam on his person during his arrest. A search of his vehicle revealed two sets of digital scales, additional marijuana, and a Smith & Wesson 9mm firearm.

Dickson's criminal history includes five felony cocaine convictions and two prior felony firearm convictions among other offenses. This history classified him as an armed career criminal and contributed to his enhanced sentence.

Judge Miller also imposed three years of supervised release following Dickson's prison term. There is no parole option available within the federal system.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA with assistance from the White Hall Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Stacy Williams prosecuted the case.
