The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Sean Paul Duer, a 58-year-old resident of Durant, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge. Duer admitted to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it, a crime that carries a potential penalty of up to twenty years in prison.
According to the Information filed against him, Duer was found on May 12, 2024, in possession of methamphetamine, classified as a Schedule II controlled substance. The case is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Durant Police Department.
U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Duer's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will later decide on Duer's sentence after reviewing applicable guidelines and statutory factors.
Until sentencing is determined, Duer will remain under the custody of the United States Marshals Service. The prosecution team included Assistant U.S. Attorneys Richard J. Lorenz and Michael E. Robinson.
