The Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement, chaired by Clay Higgins (R-La.), has announced a roundtable event titled “A View From the Frontlines: A Police Week Roundtable on Emerging Issues Facing American Law Enforcement.” This discussion is scheduled to occur during National Police Week and aims to address the challenges that state and local law enforcement agencies encounter when collaborating with federal entities. The focus will be on how federal support can be enhanced for these agencies.

State and local law enforcement frequently assist federal agencies at significant events while also managing their own community responsibilities. Chairman Higgins emphasized the importance of this cooperation, stating, “Law enforcement officers risk their lives every day fighting on the front lines and keeping Americans safe. This National Police Week, thousands of attendees in Washington, D.C. will honor the lives of nearly 25,000 officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. This roundtable will focus on improving the cooperative operations of federal, state and local law enforcement. We look forward to hearing participants’ feedback on how to fight crime more effectively.”

The roundtable is set for May 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET in room 2247 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Participants include Col. Robert T. Hodges from Louisiana State Police; Sgt. Edward Lenz from Adams Township (PA) Police Department & Butler County Emergency Services Unit; and Sgt. Aaron Zaliponi from Adams Township (PA) Police Department & SWAT Team Leader for Butler County Emergency Services Unit.

Additional participants may join later, and those interested can watch a livestream of the event.
