Jason M. Frierson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada
A Las Vegas man, George Perez, was sentenced to 49 years in prison for multiple armed robberies of businesses in the city. United States District Judge Miranda M. Du delivered the sentence.
Between January 19 and January 25, 2022, Perez committed seven store robberies. In each incident, he approached cashiers with merchandise as if intending to purchase it. In six of these cases, he brandished a Taurus G2 9mm firearm at the cashiers and demanded money by instilling fear and threatening violence.
Perez's criminal history includes prior convictions for attempting possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two burglaries, and possession of a credit or debit card without the cardholder’s consent in Clark County, Nevada. He is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.
In February 2025, after a five-day trial, Perez was found guilty by a jury on several charges: seven counts of interference with commerce by robbery, seven counts of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans for the FBI Las Vegas Division. The FBI conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorneys David Kiebler and Lauren Ibanez prosecuted the case.
