U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the re-opening of the Poker Creek Port of Entry for the summer 2025 season. The port is set to open on May 18, 2025, and will remain operational until September 15, 2025. These dates are subject to change based on weather conditions.
The hours of operation will be consistent with those in 2024, running from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Alaska Standard Time (9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Yukon Standard Time). Travelers should note that Alaska is one hour behind Yukon, Canada time.
Travelers needing an I-94 should utilize the CBP Home Mobile Application or visit the CBP I-94 website to apply and pay a $6 USD fee through Pay.gov using either PayPal or credit/debit cards such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover. If not applied for in advance, travelers must have exact change upon arrival at the port.
Visa Waiver Program travelers entering by land need prior travel authorization via ESTA, which remains valid for multiple trips over two years or until passport expiration.
CBP also advises against bringing Canadian-sourced firewood into the U.S., and directs those seeking information about entering Canada to visit www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca.
CBP describes itself as "America's frontline: the nation's largest law enforcement organization and the world's first unified border management agency." With over 65,000 personnel, it aims to facilitate lawful travel and trade while ensuring national security through various means including innovation and collaboration.
