South Asian Food Inc., based in Maspeth, NY, has announced a recall of its 1875g packages of Bengal King Family Pack Vegetable Singara. The recall is due to the presence of undeclared peanuts in the product. This poses a risk for individuals with peanut allergies, as consuming these products could lead to serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.
The affected product was distributed across the United States through retail stores and mail orders. It is packaged in white paper labeled "Bengal King Family Pack Vegetable Singara" with black, green, and blue lettering on the front. The lot number is 007, UPC Number 1824448372340, and it has an expiration date of June 10, 2026.
To date, there have been no reported allergic reactions or illnesses related to this issue. The recall was initiated after it was found that a peanut-containing ingredient had been included without proper labeling. An investigation revealed that this occurred due to human error during packaging.
Production has been halted while South Asian Food Inc. collaborates with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to resolve the problem completely.
Consumers who purchased the recalled product are advised not to consume it and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For any questions, consumers can contact South Asian Food Inc. at 718-894-2507 between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Time from Monday to Friday.
