U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported a Colombian national, Kevin Esneider Garcia-Rojas, who was charged with multiple offenses including assault during a home invasion in Connecticut. Garcia-Rojas was removed from the United States to Colombia on April 24 by ICE Boston officers.
Patricia H. Hyde, the acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, stated, "Kevin Esneider Garcia-Rojas apparently ignored a protective order and assaulted a Connecticut resident during a home invasion." She emphasized that Garcia-Rojas had entered the U.S. illegally in 2023 and was apprehended by local authorities within nine months for allegedly assaulting someone in New England. Hyde added, "ICE Boston will not tolerate such threats to our neighbors. We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing alien offenders from our streets."
Garcia-Rojas initially entered the United States illegally near El Paso, Texas on January 28, 2023, where he was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol. Later that year, on October 13, Hartford Police detained him for disorderly conduct and assault; he posted a $5,000 bond for release. Subsequently arrested again on November 8 for more severe charges including assault during a home invasion and violation of a protective order, Garcia-Rojas posted a $100,000 bond to secure his release.
On January 2, 2024, ICE Boston issued Garcia-Rojas with a notice to appear before an immigration judge from the Justice Department. He was later arrested by ICE Boston officers on January 28 and served with an arrest warrant as well as custody determination notice.
