German Montano-Peralta, a 33-year-old from Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico, has been sentenced to 88 months in prison by United States District Judge Angela Martinez. The sentence, issued on May 12, 2025, also includes three years of supervised release following his incarceration. Montano-Peralta had previously entered a guilty plea for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The case dates back to April 30, 2024, when Montano-Peralta and accomplices were found in possession of approximately 40 kilograms of powder and pills containing fentanyl and over 55 pounds of methamphetamine in Tucson, Arizona. These substances were intended for distribution later that day.

This investigation was conducted as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative in Southern Arizona. The OCDETF program is led by the Arizona Strike Force based in Tucson and aims to identify and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a coordinated approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Homeland Security Investigations collaborated with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration on this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Petermann from the District of Arizona's Tucson office prosecuted the case.
