Jay Gilmore, a 40-year-old resident of Waco, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 200 months in federal prison for the distribution of child pornography. The sentencing took place on May 8, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska. United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis presided over the case and ordered that after serving his prison term, Gilmore will undergo a 20-year period of supervised release. Additionally, he is required to pay $9,000 in restitution.

The investigation began when United States Probation officers found an unapproved electronic device at Gilmore's residence. This led to the collection of 25 such devices by probation officers. The Lincoln Police Department conducted a forensic evaluation of these electronics and discovered 165 images of child pornography. Evidence also showed that Gilmore had accessed websites related to child pornography and incest.

Gilmore was previously convicted for similar offenses under case number 4:11CR3000 in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The project involves collaboration between federal, state, and local resources to prosecute offenders and rescue victims. More information about this initiative can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.

The Lincoln Police Department was responsible for investigating this case.
