Dominican national sentenced for unlawful re-entry into the US

A Dominican national has been sentenced in federal court for reentering the United States following a previous deportation, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack.

Angel David Aybar Carmona, 30, who was unlawfully residing in Massachusetts, received a sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Samantha D. Elliott of nine months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. On February 3, 2025, Aybar Carmona pled guilty to one count of re-entry after deportation.

Aybar Carmona was encountered by law enforcement on or about July 19, 2024, in New Hampshire after having been previously deported on or about March 15, 2022.

The case was investigated by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement with valuable assistance from the New Hampshire State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Strelzin prosecuted the case.
